In our literary discourses, autumn symbolizes the end of life. There is a
sense of this symbolism in today's society. Some find that autumn
has descended upon our culture. They feel that the once green leaves
of the trees of our culture have turned yellow and lifeless.
Yet, for every autumn that comes, there is always a spring that follows. Yes, the trees have
changed, but the warm spring air will soon give it life so that it may thrive
once again.
Our literary spring embodies the many new publications: magazines, books, newspapers, newsletters
and the many new radio programs, movies, plays and other media. At the moment our
literature and arts are taking new forms and a new wave of writers and
artists are amassing and finding each other and interacting. Looking
around, you can always see a new tree is sprouting.
As for an example, here at Aftaabzad Publications in the coming months we
will publish a collection of poems by Dr. Amin Azimi and the revenue
generated from the sale of the book will go to the "Voice of Innocence", Helping the Afghan Children,
Inc. fund. So many Afghans are creatively voicing their ideas and helping one another.
The warmth of spring is here in the autumn months. We have to help in
anyway we can to promote what we have. We must
remember that there are no limitations. Pessimism must go and optimism
must take over. Let our pens tell the story of our lives and our people's
lives. Lets move forward with our written words. And in the words of
the late Ustad Maa'el Herawi, "the pen is now liberated, write."
May God be with you, Farhad Azad Publisher |
