"Transcending boundaries" is about
crossing of Space. Its about reaching beyond into
another domain, someone else's domain which you
cannot touch. It is also about loss, a
deep loss, of home, family love, respect and the
Self. It is about redefining who you are by
discovering what you are becoming. Stepping into
another world where what you speak is not a tool
for meaning making, instead a nonsensical muteness.
Who can hear this cry from within and
understand it? Try to tell a people of commodity, luxury, high capitalism and
spanning multimedia, about war and destruction. About the dead bodies you have seen lying in the street at the age of five. Is this a
horror film you describe to your alien friend? For that's
the only parallel these stories cross in their
lives.
What is the answer to your father's broken
hands? His hands which gave him honor
among his country's best, now lie helpless at
his side.
All he can do is cry. Its not the poverty which
kills his spirit but the loss of who he
used to be. The mother's heart, the tuneless flute,
for the last stolen glances at her family still
burn like today's sunshine. These rays of fabulous
illumination don't warm this isolated
woman's icy flesh - they singe the fiber of who
she was.
Forcing the revelation of another, within
the one Self. The taxi drives away and that's
the last of girlhood dreams and womanhood shelters.
Now existing in the cold of her new, undiscovered
world.
The fear of Otherness is the fear of the
unknown, phenomenon. It is the fear of an unknown,
where the foreign is unexplainable and
undeniably a deadlocked puzzle. Only some
will cross the boundary to your world to see
makes you the dark creature of deep
thoughts.
Of why you base all your school assignment
on themes of War.
Time is the healer, it has been said and
is true, of this and every other wound your soul has
accumulated. All those stares, the
whispers, and insults rising like dense
forests.
Though you do make it.
To that place, where an opening in the
canopy will allow you to breath. Reborn like from the
depths of a dark womb, a second time, from a
hostile yet learned mother.
Only then can you really transcend those
boundaries and stop being the manifestation of feared
"Otherness".
