Lemar-Aftaab
July - December 2000

Welcome to the July - December 2000 issue of Lemar-Aftaab. This issue marks a milestone for the magazine: the first volume has been completed, and the second volume has begun.

The staff and contributors of Lemar-Aftaab have once again provided an excellent issue for your reading pleasure.

In the ESSAYS section, we feature Fariba Nawa's work about her spiritual journey to Afghanistan; and Mahbub Shansab presents an intimate piece on her experience in 1978 Kabul.

In the ARTICLES section, Mir Hekmatullah Sadat brings into light the late Afghan historian Ghobar; Khaleda Atta covers the Afghan soccer games in Washington DC, and Yamah Ghiassi provides detailed photos; Dr. Amin Azimi discusses a healthy approach to the parent and child relationship.

In the MUSIC section, Said Omar openly talks with us on his life and music.

In the FICTION section, we feature the short story The Bad Kid by the prolific writer Rah'nawar Zariab translated from Dari by Hamed Alipoor.

In the POETRY section, we feature the works of Zahera Saed and Dr. Amin Azimi.

In the TRAVELOGUE section, Tom Cole reminisces on his first trip to Afghanistan in the fall of 1970.

And in the VISUAL ARTS section, Yamah Ghiassi illustrates with this camera the Association of Afghan Student of Washington DC's Annual Art Show; Charles Lewis, PhD examines a mythical Afghan rug.

We hope that you enjoy reading this issue as much as we enjoyed bringing it to you. We look forward to your comments and thoughts!

May God be with you,
Farhad Azad
