| by M. Nasir Mehrin A thorough study and scrutiny of the history literature in our neighbouring countries is required to accomplish a critical and scholarly revision of the history of Afghanistan. By overcoming the narrow ethnic views in our historical studies, we would establish a true humanitarian co-operation in the realm of thinking and living side by side. Only then, we would be able to find out the roots of the suppressive political systems, prevailing in the region and in our own country. While, we do not forget the barbaric atrocities of the invaders of our country, we should not ignore and persuade the atrocities committed by our own grandfathers towards our neighbouring countries. We should overcome the previous persuasive style of history writing in our country, in which our historians used to praise the crimes of our armies in other countries and glorify the cruel sultans of our country. The author argues for the need to change that selfish style of writing. These conclusions are based on the author's arguments in respect to our existing literature in history. Criticism in history writing is praised and a critical review of our history literature is proposed. |
