Gol-Dasta-Gol: Kamal's Debut CD
|
Kamal
by Farhad Azad
Jan.-March 1998
Lemar-Aftaab
Kamal’s first CD Gol Dasta-e Gol is
very energetic and fast paced. It is
always refreshing to see a new face
in the Afghan music scene and for
them to have true talent is even
better. Kamal has the raw talent
and it is heard in his CD. In terms
of the type of Afghan music,
Kamal fits in with the range of new age.
From beginning to end,
the CD is full of up-beat and up-tempo
songs. Atta Atash is
responsible for the composition and the
poet of five of the songs. Atta Atash was
also the composer of Habib Qaderi’s 1995
CD Sahil.
What is most refreshing of Kamal’s
CD is that it is pure in the sense that it is free
from the computerized music that some Afghan
artists are producing now a days. I enjoyed all
the songs, but I took a liking to two particular
ones: Baagh-e Bala and Omid (poem from
the talented late poetess Forugh Farrokhzad).
Over all, Gol Dasta Gol is a
must buy and it will put Kamal in the Afghan music spotlight.
Here are two song
Baagh-e Bala
and
Omid from his new CD Gol-Dasta-Gol.
