Welcome to the April - June 2000 issue. First of all, we wish you a belated Happy Now Roz and hope that the new year brings you much happiness and prosperity.

The staff and contributors of Lemar-Aftaab have once again provided an excellent issue for your reading pleasure.

In the Feature Articles section, we feature new staff member Hamid Ebrahimkhil's work Growing up in America; Mariam Tutakhel presents her personal essay My Little Afghanistan in Germany; Zahera Saed covers the fund raiser of Women Writer's Night in NYC while Mizgon Zahir covers the second Inter-Afghan Youth Summit in SF; Zaheda Ghani narrates the story of the Sydney based soccer team Afghan 11; and Baba Haji discusses the history, culture and traditions of Now Roz in Herat.

In Afghanistan Geographics, we reminisce with Caryn Giles Lawson as she takes us back to the late 1970s Kabul.

In the Fiction section, we feature the short story The Composition by the prolific writer Rah'nawar Zariab translated from Dari by Dr. S. Wali Ahmadi; we also present Roya Khorshid's short story The Leather Shoes.

In the Poetry section, the works of Zalmai Herman, Shahram Zia, Fatana Jahangir, Makeez Sultan, Wali Shaker, Masuma Nazari, Mari Nasir, Zahera Saed, Hares, Zaheda Ghani and Dr. Amin Azimi are featured.

Sahar Maeen exhibits a variety of her works of art in the Visual Arts section. Also, Yama Rahimi features another excellent volume of his photography.

In the Book Review section, you will find the books Afghanistan: Land in Shadows and The Dinosaurs' Country are reviewed.

In the Music section, the talented rebabnawaz Larry Porter talks with us on his experiences in studying the rebab in Kharabat, Kabul, his CD and much more.
